The head of the dragonfly is set with two cabochon cut ruby eyes, the thorax is set with an oval natural Russian amethyst.
The amethyst has a rich, vivid purple colour. The two pairs of transparent wings are finely executed using the plique-jour enamelling technique.
The vibrant application of amethyst, crimson, ultra-marine and chartreuse yellow enamel is expertly fired into the articulated wings of the dragonfly.
The terracotta red, articulated segmented abdomen is fired in the champleve technique. The terminal of the abdomen is finished in 18ct. yellow gold.
The dragonfly bears the markers marks for Bernard Doherty, G.S.G.A, metal and date stamp. Measuring 8.5cm x 8.5cm.
